Brighten Your Appearance with a Brow Lift
Dr. Louis G. Mes, board-certified plastic surgeon, is the area's recognized expert in brow lift surgery whom residents in Lafayette, Lake Charles, and the surrounding communities trust for their aesthetic surgery needs.
Do people constantly ask you why you appear to be annoyed or anxious when you are actually rather happy and content? The reason may be that you have developed frown lines or creases in your brow that gives the impression that you are unhappy. They are the result of weakened muscles in the brow area as well as damaged or weak connective tissue underneath the skin. These deep creases, along with sagging eyebrows, can also make you appear older than you actually are.
A brow lift smooths the furrows from your brows and lifts your eyebrows, which makes your eyes seem brighter. As a result, you appear younger, and your face reflects your true emotions. New brow lift techniques using endoscopes, which are thin video cameras, significantly reduce the recovery time after brow lift surgery. Dr. Mes is Lafayette's expert in both traditional and endoscopic brow lift procedures.

What Is Involved in Brow Lift Surgery in Lafayette, LA?
Before Your Surgery
If you currently smoke, you will need to stop several weeks before your surgery is scheduled. If you take aspirin, NSAIDS, or certain medications and herbal supplements, you will need to avoid taking them as they increase the risk of profuse bleeding. Additionally, you will need to arrange for transportation home due to the effects of the anesthesia and sedation.
On the day of your brow lift surgery, Dr. Mes's team will prep you for the procedure, and then you will receive either local anesthesia with I.V. sedation or general anesthesia, based upon what you and Dr. Mes decided during your consultation. Once the anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Mes will begin performing the brow lift procedure.
Option One: Endoscopic Brow Lift
When Dr. Mes performs an endoscopic brow lift, he makes small incisions just above your hairline, and then using the endoscope and very small surgical tools, he repairs and repositions the muscles and tissues in your forehead region to eliminate the lines in your forehead and lift your eyebrows. He may also make small incisions in your eyebrows to correct fine lines and wrinkles between your eyebrows and on the bridge of your nose. He will then close the incisions with either sutures or surgical tape and apply bandages or surgical tape.
Option Two: Traditional Brow Lift Surgery
During the first step of this procedure, Dr. Mes makes an incision extending from ear to ear across the scalp so your hair will hide any scarring. He will then lift the tissues and skin of your forehead, as well as remove any extra skin. He will close the incisions with either sutures or surgical tape and apply bandages or surgical tape.
After the majority of the anesthesia wears off and Dr. Mes confirms that you are ready, you will be free to go home. He will prescribe pain medications and antibiotics for you to reduce any discomfort and risk of infection. Most patients report they are able to return to their regular routine five to ten days after surgery. The majority of the swelling and bruising disappears within a month. During the next few months, you will see the full effects of your brow lift surgery.
Some of the different facial plastic surgery options offered by Dr. Mes include the following:
- Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
- Neck Lift
- Facial Implants
- Fat Injections
- Laceration Repair
- Lip Enhancement
- Ear Surgery (otoplasty)
